Call for Abstracts & Guidelines

Dear Colleagues


The Organising Committee would like to invite the submission of abstracts for the
2020 SASS Congress

- Presentation formats available include: Oral platform (10 minutes)

- Oral flash (5 minutes)

- ePoster Display


Authors are requested to indicate their preference, but should note that the final decision lies with the Scientific Committee. Authors are requested to take note of the additional instructions below:

CATEGORIES

  • Adult Spinal Deformity
  • Paediatric Spinal Surgery
  • Trauma
  • Cervical Degenerative/ Reconstruction
  • Innovative Methods
  • Lumbar Degenerative
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery
  • Quality/Safety/Value/Complications

LAYOUT REQUIREMENTS

Kindly divide your abstract according to the above categories. Abstracts not conforming to the format will be returned.

SCIENTIFIC ABSTRACTS

Your scientific abstract must contain:

  1. A descriptive title, list of authors and institutions;
  2. An introduction/rationale to the study;
  3. The methods used;
  4. The results of the study including new data not previously published or presented at a major national or international meeting;
  5. Conclusions of the study. It is not satisfactory to state: "The results will be discussed"

 Abstracts reporting results of meta-analyses and systematic reviews will also be considered

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Please upload your original Abstract during your submission as a Word doc. Additional supporting documents to be emailed to delight@eoafrica.co.za (only submissions with all supporting documents will be considered)

  1. All authors must sign a conflict of interest declaration
  2. All co-authors must sign that they agree with inclusion as a co-author and that they vouch for the data being presented
  3. Authors must acknowledge that if there are any concerns from the committee, they may request to view the original data

ACCEPTANCE

Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee who reserve the right to accept and allocate abstracts for either poster or oral presentation. Authors will be notified by 28 February 2020 whether their submission has been accepted. All presenters of accepted abstracts must be registered as Congress Delegates.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Abstracts should be typed single space, using 12 point Times New Roman font. Please leave 2.5 cm margins on all sides
  2. Use a maximum of 300 words without editorial errors; proof read your abstract for typographic errors. It will not be corrected prior to publication
  3. Type the title in CAPITAL letters, using no more than 3 (three) lines
  4. The presenting author’s name must be underlined. Indicate department and/or institution of first author, full address, contact details and email address

The committee will review all abstracts and the presenting author will be notified if the paper has been accepted for presentation.
Take Note: All presenters of accepted abstracts must be registered as congress delegates
